BHm - Dogs No 22 Akita They are a large spitz breed of dog originating from the mountainous northern regions of Japan. There are two separate varieties of Akita- a Japanese strain Akita and an American one which appears in most dog colours whereas the Japanese strain has a small choice. They are alert docile ,friendly, responsive and courageous. The hardy dogs can claim a story which has touched the World emotionally. A Japanese professor owned one named Hachiko and lived near a station -Shibuya. On the 2505 1925 the master got on to a train to go to work as normal. Each afternoon the dog used to walk to the station at 4 p.m. and accompany his master back home without fail. One day the professor died suddenly at work. The dog waited at the station in vane and eventually went back. For 9 years this famous Hachiko made the same journey. always in hope he would see his master. A statue has been erected (illustrated) in the dogs honour of loyalty
