BIG ANNOUNCEMENTS!!!! The dates for ANIMATE! MIAMI have been changed to November 14-16, 2014 and a NEW event, MAGIC CITY COMIC CON will take the place on January 16-18, 2015. Both events will take place at the Miami Airport Convention Center. Why the change? It’s fairly simple, and most of it has to do with our big show, Florida Supercon. As you are probably aware, Florida Supercon has grown to be one of the largest comic/anime cons in the South Eastern United States, and we continue to try and bring in new and interesting guests each year. Some of these guests (some really HUGE names) are just not available for Florida Supercon. Some have family plans that weekend. Some can’t deal with the summer heat in Miami. Some have conflicts with our proximity to San Diego Comic-Con, which means we can only get them to appear if we have a show in a different part of the year. Since we want to bring in the biggest, best, and most diverse group of guests possible to our attendees and fans, we have been discussing the idea of adding another “Supercon” type event. So, the next question is… Where do we put it? After talking with everyone, the January 16-18 dates of Animate! Miami seemed to be the best fit. It’s approx. 6 months apart from Supercon, and not too close to some of the other large events in Florida. So, we are proud to announce MAGIC CITY COMIC CON, January 16-18, 2015. Magic City Comic Con will be a Comic Book, Anime, Animation, Sci-Fi, Fantasy, Cosplay, and Video Game Convention. But… what about Animate! Miami? Well… we love Animate! Miami. We love having a show dedicated to Anime and Animation… so we just had to find another date for it. A date that wasn’t too close to Florida Supercon or the new Magic City Comic Con. Which really leaves a window in late October to mid November, or maybe March-April. The March / April dates don’t work as we have Pinned in May, which is a different type of show… but still takes up our time and resources, so our best option was late October to mid November. After looking at the calendars, we wanted to avoid the major holidays (Halloween, Thanksgiving), and we didn’t want to be on the same weekend as some other conventions in South and Central Florida. Plus, we are slightly at the mercy of the convention center, which has a limited amount of dates available. The best date available was November 16-18. So, what does that mean to you? It depends. To start, it means we get to bring you a third awesome event. New and different guests! New and different events! More Comic Book creators to meet! More Celebrities to meet! More Anime and Animation voice actors to meet! More opportunity to cosplay! We have always tried to bring in amazing and unique guests… this gives us the chance to up our game, so to speak. If you have already purchased a ticket to Animate! Miami, you have several options. (1) Do nothing. Your ticket will transfer to the new November 16-18 dates for Animate! Miami.
