BIG BIG BIG news!!!!!!!!!!!!! Belle is off of phenobarbital after 3 years and 4 PILLS PER DAY!!!!!!!!!!! She successfully under doctors care weaned herself off of that powerful barbiturate onto a new epilipsy medication. It took 5 weeks and it was very very rough at first. She slept all the time, looked depressed and didn’t feel good at all. She had one almost Grand Mal Seizure and numerous petit mals. A few times she felt so bad she actually snarled at her playmates. She just wanted to be alone. Dr. G. Warned us it would be a rough transition but SHE DID IT!!!!!!!!! Last night was her last dose of liver damage causing pheno and she is freeeeeeeeee!!!!!!!!!!!! whoooooooooooohoooooooooooooooo!!!!!!!!!! PLEASE NOTE: Pheno is still THE number one first choice for canine epilipsy. And it worked well for Belle. However with an enlarged liver and the liver nodules (non cancerous thank god!) She HAD to make the switch. And she did it!!!!!!!!!!!! My brave brave little girl!!!!!!!!!!!! no matter what kind of curveballs life throws at her she just keeping going::::::::::;walking into sunsets and protecting the puppies of the Big Easy 24/ 7. Her daddy Angel Pup and I are bursting with pride! Belle is a true survivor and an achiever!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
