BIG NEW ABOUT OUR AUCTION!! PLEASE READ!! This year, Turning Point will hold a mobile auction supported by a company called Auctions By Cellular (ABC). Since 2011, ABC has helped charities like Turning Point raise over $60 million through their auction software. HOW DOES THIS WORK? All bidding, for silent auction items, will be done electronically. Bidding will be done a few different ways. If you are at the auction, you will be able to bid through your phone or tablets provided by ABC. If you are not attending the event, you can bid either by phone or computer. HOW DO I GET A BID NUMBER? You will register at check in with an ABC Pro for your bid number using your credit card and a smart phone. You will then receive a text message linking you to the auction website. This will be done either at home before the event or at check in. HOW DO I BID? When you find an item you would like to bid on, you will click the picture and type the bid amount and click on bid. Then you wait to win or rebid! WHAT IF I DONT HAVE A SMART PHONE? There will be ABC Pros that will do the bidding for you. You tell them what you want and they will do your bidding. If you are at home, you can use a computer to make your bids. WHAT IF I DONT WANT TO PAY WITH A CREDIT CARD? You will receive a text at the end of the night asking if you would like to check out with the registered charge card. You can either choose to pay by the registered card or come directly to the check out table to pay by cash or check. Paper receipts will be available to anyone who purchases items. WHEN DO I PICK UP THE ITEMS I HAVE PURCHASED? Once you have paid, runners will get the auction items for you. Look for signs above the check out lanes. If you are not at the auction and have the winning bid, you will need to arrange with Turning Point the Monday following the auction pick up. CAN I BID IF I DONT ATTEND THE AUCTION? Yes, if you are unable to attend the auction, you can go to the auction website and get a bid number by registering your credit card. The site will be up and bidding will begin a week before the auction. WHAT DOES THIS MEAN FOR TURNING POINTS AUCTION? It means: No more crowded auction tables, Items will be on site AND online, Silent Auction open longer, Automatic bidding by cellphone, You’ll know in seconds if you are out bid, no more running back and forth to crowded bid sheets, Quicker check out lines.
