BIG NEWS (at least for me): If youve noticed an increase in video-related posts from me lately, you arent mistaken. Ive decided to take an enormously-terrifying step and resign from my teaching position to pursue video full-time. I am incredibly grateful for my time at Southwest Middle School. My five years in the classroom have taught me more than I could have imagined about invaluable things like work ethic, organization, flexibility (more in the schedule than in the body), patience, and the ability to be ready for just about anything. Ive also learned that teachers are - without a doubt - the toughest people on earth, second only to our fighting forces who make it possible for me to take this chance in the first place. Ive also learned that things dont cost the same as they did five years ago. Teachers here have gone without a raise (wait, no, I did get one raise... $20 before tax per paycheck) for over six years now. They dont even get an adjustment for inflation. So, while I am incredibly lucky and grateful to have had a steady job, job security is less and less meaningful with each year costing more and more. Therefore, it is with some bittersweet feelings that I finish this chapter and go after a dream that has been many years in the making. Its incredibly scary and thrilling at the same time. None of it would be possible without the love and support of my wonderful wife, Jessica, my family, and friends. Thank you to you all. Please think of me whenever you or anyone you know needs video for their business, event, home listing, wedding, or anything else, really. You know that feeling you get in your stomach just as you crest the first hill on a roller coaster? Thats how this feels. Im sure there will be ups and downs, but Im determined to enjoy the ride.
