BIG SURPRISE SAVES HORSE RESCUE CENTER It’s just shy of - TopicsExpress

BIG SURPRISE SAVES HORSE RESCUE CENTER It’s just shy of midnight on a Friday and were still hard at work. Tonight we’re making arrangements to transfer urgently needed funds to the absolutely magical Ohana Rescue in Florida. A year ago, the rescue center’s founder Carrie Young relocated the charity to a new property. Because her own home sold so quickly, she signed a contract to lease her new trailer home for a year before purchasing in a year. Because there was no official “home closing” in this arrangement, an inspection was never done. Since moving onto the property, Carrie has suffered terrible health problems, at times she could barely breathe, and was repeatedly hospitalized. Turns out that the owners of the house knew that it was severely contaminated with mold. A normal acceptable mold count is 200, but this home was tested at 170,000 and climbing! The houses owners painted over the mold to try to disguise it from Carrie and her husband, with no regard for the pain and illness it might cause them. Not only did Carries health suffer, but every piece of cloth furniture, drapery, bedding and even the mattress had to be thrown out. It was a total loss. The matter is now in the hands of the courts, but in the meantime, Harmony Fund is loaning Ohana Rescue the funds they need to safely care for the horses on the grounds. At 3pm on Monday afternoon, they would have received an eviction order because the courts must hold their rent in a form of escrow account until the case is sorted out. Because Carrie and her husband have had to take refuge elsewhere, they simply couldn’t pay. Tonight that worry is behind them thanks to the WONDERFUL PEOPLE who donate to the Harmony Fund. Now Carrie can focus on getting well and protecting the horses. Our hope and expectation is that Carrie and Ohana Rescue will be reimbursed for the massive medical bills and legal expenses and that they will be free to carry on their work for the horses for many years to come. “There are not enough horse rescues around as it is,” Carrie explains. “If one more shuts down, what will happen to the horses here now and the many horses that we would be able to save? I cannot express the weight that you (Harmony Fund) have lifted off me. I was so worried about the horses and if Ohana was going to be able to continue to help. Bless you, Bless you...” We hope that all of you reading this will be inspired to do something great today. You ARE the Harmony Fund. Visit our website at HarmonyFund.org
