BIG news for Selleria! The emotion that surrounds this announcement is overwhelming, but then again, weve all been emotional watching Selleria heal. I think its safe to say that Selleria is one of the most loved horses in the world with fans in almost every country. Supporters everywhere cheered her on, while critics had plenty to say as well. But those of us closest to Selleria knew something that most didnt. Selleria wanted to heal. She was physically broken but her fighting spirit was alive and well as she hobbled out of the auction house last February with her head held high. Onlookers laughing and pointed, some (openly) thought we were fools for rescuing a canner horse that the believed should have gone to slaughter. As soon as we met her we knew there was something special about her. Standing amongst 30 other mares, 6 inches deep in mud, soaking wet, covered in bite marks, lice, ticks and ring worm, she stood out. She not only looked offended about her current location but even more offended that it took us so long to show up for her. After all, how dare we leave royalty waiting! As I noticed her feet she became the first horse to ever make me cry, and when I leaned in to hug her neck, she hugged me back. Despite being at the lowest of low, she was trying to comfort me. Yes indeed, she is an incredible horse that taught us so much on our journey with her. Selleria was lucky enough to have some of the most amazing people help her heal- her trimmer, her foster homes, her Vet, her supporters... she couldnt have done it without their help. And from the bottom of our hearts we Thank all of you for helping restore Selleria back into the Princess she always knew she was. With that we announce that Selleria has been adopted by Riggs training and will compete in the Thoroughbred makeover challenge in Kentucy this fall.
