BIOGRAPHY My Story arrived in Haskell, Oklahoma, the oldest child, to my wonderful parents, Clifford and Ruby Pouncil on August 28, 1945. My parents honored me with the prominent name, Edmond; it goes back over two hundred years and is only shared by four other Pouncil men. Haskell, OK is where I learned the importance of having a personal relationship with Jesus Christ and accepted him as my Savior at Coal Creek Baptist Church. It was there that I also learned the importance of hard work, striving for excellence and the value of education. I graduated from Booker T. Washington High School Haskell, OK in the Prestigious Class of 1963. After graduating from BTW, I received a Bachelors from Northeastern State College (NSC), Tahlequah, OK in History. During that time, I became a founding member of NSC chapter of Alpha Phi Alpha Fraternity, Incorporated. After graduation I taught History at Haskell High School. Later I worked as a manual laborer at McDonnell Douglass. In 1969 as a part of the Selective Service System lottery, I was drafted into the US military and spent two years in Germany. This was the beginning of my long military career which included working in the Army Reserves and Oklahoma National Guard 45th Infantry Brigade, where I attained a First Sergeant status before retirement. Upon returning from Service, I met and married Arthetta Jackson, of that union my daughter was born, Sidra Dawn (The Warden). Together, we made Tulsa, OK our home. Arthetta and I later divorced. In Tulsa, I became a Salesman at Southwestern Bell and Xerox Corporation, where I achieved top honors in sales. It was also during this time that I began working for KrafTours as a chartered bus driver. I loved driving and seeing the United States and was highly requested. During this period, I joined the Tulsa Junior Chamber of Commerce (Tulsa Jaycees). I developed life-long friendships with everyone and weve met monthly as the Old Farts. I joined Vernon A.M.E. Church in the mid-1980s. I loved my church and served as a very involved and dedicated member. I once served on the Steward Board and even played the guitar occasionally during Sunday service. In my most recent season of life, I served on the Trustee Board, as a member of the Sons of Allen, Class Leaders Council and sang in the Chancel Choir and Mens Chorus. Every year, when our church celebrated Veterans Day, I was one of few that could still fit my original Army Dress Blues!!I always had an interest in owning my own business. In 1979, I started a Farmers Insurance Agency and worked as an insurance agent in Tulsa for almost 20 years, receiving top honors in life insurance sales. I continued to be an entrepreneur in the janitorial services and manufacturing, while also selling SPX Automotive Diagnostic Equipment. During my final season, I met my Life Partner, Ethel Ross Waugh. I love spending time with her talking, listening to music, and running errands. She brought JOY and PEACE to my life and I found LOVE. It didnt even bother me to get chauffeured around town. My hobbies are reading, dancing and playing The Dozens with family and friends. I am so proud that my daughter found Richard, because I told him She is all yours now and dont bring her back. If it had not been for her, I would not have survived after the 2nd stroke. Of course, I did give her all my best qualities. My greatest pleasure was spending time with family and friends. And, I loved taking my Grandson; Tyler to McDonalds every Saturday morning. Im gone now, but we will always have our memories. I am preceded in death by my parents, Clifford and Ruby Pouncil; my brothers, Mitchell Pouncil (Maxine) and Clifford Pouncil (Tracye). I leave to cherish precious memories: my daughter, Sidra Johnson (Richard) of Tulsa, OK; my Grandchildren Erica Johnson of St. Louis, MO and Tyler Johnson of Tulsa; my Great Grandchild Steven Wilson of St. Louis, MO; my Life Partner, Ethel Ross (Tony & Dawn Devorse) of Tulsa, OK; my Siblings, Larry Pouncil (Alice) of Checotah, OK; Carolyn Hall (Bobby) of Muskogee, OK; Johnny Hubanks (Fannie) of Desoto, TX; Juanita Davis (Ken) of Houston, TX; Brenda Kay Pouncil of Plano, TX; Raymond Pouncil (Pat) of Drumright, OK; and Jerry Pouncil (Margaret) of Independence, KS; my Uncle Eugene Pouncil of San Francisco, CA.
