BIRTH ANNIVERSARY OF THE WORLDS ULTIMATE SELF-REALIZATION MANUAL ... On the 11th day of the Shukla Paksh (bright fortnight) of the Hindu month called Margasheersh, which falls generally in the first or second week of December, Lord Krishna preached the Bhagavad Gita at Kurukshetra. This day is celebrated all over India and abroad as the Gita Jayanti day. This year it falls on the 2nd of December. अध्येष्यते च य इमं धर्म्यं संवादमावयो: । ज्ञानयज्ञेन तेनाहमिष्ट: स्यामिति मे मति: ।। (The Geeta, 18/70) Arjun ! Any person who studies and contemplates upon this religious discourse between you and Me, will in effect worship Me through Gyan Yagya (the fire-rite of wisdom) – that is, the Yagya whose result is wisdom. Such is my sure opinion. Today, please read at least one worse from the Gita. God is one, all religions are true, all scriptures are true. A true Arya is one who believes in One Spirit and sees His presence in everyone and everything. The Gita was born approx. 5,000 years ago and is the mother of all wisdom ; it is also the ultimate self-management manual. It is the Lords reply to His childrens confused queries about life, its meaning, mystery and purpose. Rev. Paramahansa ji explains in his beautiful 2-vol commentary on the Gita, God Talks With Arjuna : The timeless message of the Bhagwad Gita does not refer only to one historical battle, but to the cosmic conflict between good and evil : life as a series of battles between Spirit and matter, soul and body, life and death, knowledge and ignorance, health and disease, changelessness and transitoriness, self-control and temptations, discrimination and the blind sense-mind..... Each person has to fight his own battle of Kurukshetra. It is a war not only worth-winning, but in the divine order of the universe, and of the eternal relationship between the soul and God, a war that sooner or later must be won.
