BIRTHDAY TODAY >>>Ernest Chubby Checker Evans (born October 3, 1941) is an American singer and songwriter. By age eight he had already formed a group that would stand on the street corner and harmonize. In high school at South Philadelphia High School he would entertain his classmates by performing vocal impressions of popular entertainers such as Jerry Lee Lewis, Fats Domino and Elvis Presley. After school he would entertain customers at his various jobs. At one of his jobs, Produce Market, his boss nicknamed him Chubby. The store owner at Fresh Farm Poultry, was so impressed by Checkers vocals, he and a colleague, who was also a song writer, made it possible for him to do a private recording form American Bandstands, Dick Clark.
