BISCUITS RETURN. HE HAS LEARNED TO SING! Cats will make liars - TopicsExpress

BISCUITS RETURN. HE HAS LEARNED TO SING! Cats will make liars out of you and they have no conscience whatsoever. Yesterday when we walked in to retrieve Biscuit on day four of his failed trial adoption we expected him to look wan and pathetic but there he lay in his crate, quite relaxed, looking up at us casually as if our sudden reappearance was nothing too extraordinary at all! Gee I said, he looks so relaxed! Hes quiet at the moment and this is the first day he has looked like this said Kathleen. Which made me think that it could have worked given more time. There were things to consider though. Biscuit had been having periods of wailing and the wailing scared the daylights out of her cat Charlie. The wailing began in the early hours of the first morning and would happen intermittently during the daytime. Biscuit would only eat biscuits (or tuna) and Charlie went right off his food. Charlie had a few accidents in which he urinated on some clothing and some bedding and would charge past the crate sometimes looking at Biscuit and sometimes not looking at all! After the first couple of days a trial of allowing Biscuit in to the bathroom was made to give him a larger space to walk around in. More wailing occurred at odd hours. Kathleen always attempted to placate him and reassure him even if this was at 3 a.m.! On about the third day Charlie managed to get in to the bathroom with her and they did sniff noses. It may have gone better from there but by that time both of us were concerned at the unhappiness of both cats and the stress being inflicted on Kathleen. Back home we were also feeling somewhat guilty that Biscuits brother, Trix was very quiet and had been looking for him. So we called it quits and went to pick him up. In the car from the city we were treated to the wailing first hand. And the high notes were extraordinary! No opera singer could have been better equipped with such a vocal range and the drama! the drama was incredible! Once home there were no emotional reunions with his brother. Trix needed to have a good smell to make sure this was not an imposter and we watched Biscuit smelling all around the loungeroom to make sure it was home. I picked him up and nursed him in spite of him displaying his usual fussy let me down attitude but on the second attempt he started to purr and to relax. I wish I had recorded what happened next but I was so exhausted after getting to bed at 2 a.m. due to another emergency that I fell asleep in the chair in front of the fan. Meanwhile Biscuit sang, trilled, called and meowed a long story to me as he stood on his back legs to tell me and as he ran around the room and back again. It went on for the best part of an hour! A stellar performance! Later we found Biscuit and Trix up on the shelves in the courtyard keeping tabs on each other. Today they have gone their separate ways as usual but if there is a game to play they know they have a partner to play with. So Trix and Biscuit will be offered for adoption together.
