BITTER TRUTH ON MARRIAGE (Part 52) INDIRECT SPEECH FROM GOD A single sister in Nigeria visited a certain prophet to make enquiries on her behalf as to who her husband-to-be was. The prophet told her that her husband was in far away Canada. Based on this information, she embarked on a facebook search for her husband. Ironically, every Canadian-based guy she contacted online, never responded to her messages. After three years of fruitless search for a Canadian based husband “as prophesied”, she was fed up. She decided to try a pastor in another church. The pastor told her to sow a seed with an outrageous amount of money, after which he would give her a message from God concerning her would-be-husband. She was sceptical about the genuineness of this pastor. So, she went to yet, another prophet. This time, the ‘prophet’ attempted to have a carnal knowledge of her as a condition for consulting God on her behalf. This was the point where she stopped seeking indirect speech from God. There are several people in this situation. They are looking for mortals to help them bring word from God concerning them. The Almighty God is the father of everyone that knows him and can be approached for conversation without an intermediary, except Jesus Christ. God spoke to Moses directly. He spoke to Elijah and many other mortals like us directly. When Jesus died and rose again, the direct access to God was widened even more. Jesus sent us the holy spirit to be revealing God’s mind to us. Today, the holy spirit speaks to us directly on behalf of God the Father and the Son. If you know God, you can and should always have conversation with him. “My sheep listen to my voice; I know them and they follow me” (John 10:27 NIV) Stop falling victim to fake prophets and pastors because of ignorance. God can speak directly to you concerning your husband, wife, children and even, intention of your in-laws. It is not that God cannot decide to use someone else to tell you about yourself. However, if you have this as a lifestyle, it COULD mean that you are far from God and God is far from you. You don’t know him and this is risky. Feel free to communicate with your heavenly father who takes pleasure in your intimacy with him. If sin is your barrier, then, drop sin and follow the master of righteousness. Direct speech from God is better, more reliable and safer than indirect speech. MEMORY VERSE: “My sheep listen to my voice; I know them and they follow me” (John 10:27 NIV) PRAYER POINT: 1. Oh Lord!
