BJP Sikkim strictly condemns the provocative posters that were rampantly put up in the walls and even tress at various places in East district’s Samdong and Yuksom,Kaluk ,Dentam and West District headquarter Gayzing on July 23,2013.We appreciate the suo motu action taken by the police authority and the registration of case therein. However, the matter should be thoroughly investigated by the concerned authorities and the group behind using such derogatory remarks against the ethnic Sikkimese people who are residing in this state since ages, immediate action should be taken against them. Now the matter has moved beyond just tax exemption. If they want to ask for equality under Article 14 of our Constitution they should also keep in their minds that in the same Constitution it has been given under Article 15 of the constitution states that no person shall be discriminated on the basis of caste, colour, language etc.India is a country with Unity in diversity, so this kind of acts will surely disturb the communal harmony that our country opt to have.Further, the issue has raise the question of Nationalism, thus, We, people of Sikkim, are facing identity crises in our own land. If the provocateurs would keep doing such nuisance then Sikkim being in a strategic location, it might cause a Nation-wide violence as Nepali,Bhutia and Lepcha are residing not only in Sikkim but all over the country. They are creating anti-nationalist feelings among the Sikkimese which can lead to some major threat regarding the peace and prosperity of the state and Nation at large.BJP,Sikkim totally condemn the postering and the persons behind that and take this issue seriously. Our Silence should not be taken as our weakness. We abide by the law of our land but when it comes to identity and Nationalism, BJP an opposition political party working in Sikkim would always support and act for the development and upliftment of our State and its people. Regards, BJP,Sikkim.
