BJP dispatch relief material for valley......... A large quantity of relief material consisting of blankets, rice, flour, plastic sheets, tarpaulin, biscuits, salt, water etc. collected by the party workers from different states and forwarded to the state unit, was dispatched in five trucks to Ramban, Banihal, Sriangar, Anantnag and adjoining areas today from godown established for receiving and dispatching at Digiana. The convoy of relief material was flagged off inter- alia by senior leaders of BJP namely, State President & MP Jugal Kishore Sharma, Leader of Legislature Party Ashok Khajuria, Election Campaign Committee Chairman Dr. Nirmal Singh, State Vice-President Chander Prakash Ganga, State General Secretary Kavinder Gupta, senior leader Farooq Khan, former MP & BJP leader Ch. Lal Singh and other leaders. On the occasion, Jugal Kishore Sharma said that at present these victims of flood having lost their dwellings and household chattel are in urgent need of tents and for which the state BJP has taken up the matter with the party head office at Delhi and it is expected that the demand will be considered. He added that the Central and state leadership of the party is fully seized of the sufferings and urgent life requirements of the flood victims and it is for this reason that the party cadre across the country is collecting donations of kind and cash from the people. Ashok Khajuria, observed that it is of paramount importance that the relief of every kind and nature in adequate quantities is given to the every victim of the recent floods in every nook and corner of the state, without any discrimination bias or extraneous consideration. The ruling coalition having been completely wiped in the recent parliamentary elections, is very likely to be very discriminatory, choosy and biased in distribution of the relief and a large number of those segments of the state which have voted against them are in for a denial of relief. He added that BJP will not countenance any such happening. Dr. Nirmal Singh said that in this hour of grief and sorrow, people across the country has shown their solidarity with the affected families and the same is clear that large quantities of essential commodities are being sent to our state which are collected from the general public. He said that the party activists too are reaching the public to seek donations and relief materials, there are complaints against the state government for not working to the satisfaction of the affected people, which is very unfortunate. He said that the Omar Abdullah led government should ensure that whatever comes to the state for the affected families is distributed equally without any pick and choose policy. Ch. Lal Singh accused the administration of having grossly undervalued the loss and damage suffered by the flood victims. He further said that it seems that the estimates have been arrived at by the concerned staff sitting in comfortably in their office rooms and the figures trotted up by them have been as per their fancy and not as per the actual damage. He also appreciated the efforts of party activists in extending best possible to the affected families. Sat Sharma (C.A), Harinder Gupta, Brig. Anil Gupta, Arun Chhibber, Pt. Ashok Khajuria, Baldev Singh Baloria, Vikram Randhawa, Vinay Gupta, Jaideep Sharma, Nand Kishore, Arvind Gupta were also present on the occasion.
