BJP under Modi seem to have succeeded in completely polarizing India. And that is what I feared. I do not know if it is by design or it has just happened, but India is very different now. On one hand, the ultra-right outfits have become aggressive and are trying to force their ideology. With power at their hands, there is nothing to stop them. With elections in some states, politicians are more than willing to provide them moral support. On the other - and that is equally dangerous - those who I thought were liberal have become ultra-anti-Rightists; I will not call them Leftist because they have nothing common with Leftist ideology. Their principle is: oppose everything that the government does; selectively highlight facts and news to support their viewpoint. There is no place for balanced opinion. The reason I keep writing this again and again is that I am extremely worried about this trend. Manasastu param buddhi - intellect is superior than the mind (emotions). Am I a Leftist because I am saying cold reason is superior than faith? Or I am a Hindu rightist because I am quoting Gita? I am confused.
