BJYM President Anurag Thakur booked for fraud By Express News Service - CHANDIGARH Published: 04th October 2013 02:12 PM Last Updated: 04th October 2013 02:12 PM The Himachal Pradesh Vigilance and Anti-corruption Bureau on Thursday booked Bharatiya Janata Yuva Morcha president and BJP MP Anurag Thakur - who also heads the Himachal Pradesh Cricket Association (HPCA)- for his alleged involvement in a land scam. Sources said Anurag and his younger brother Arun were booked for forging documents to purchase a piece of land. Another case was registered against the HPCA for encroachment on 720 sq ft land belonging to the Sports Department near the cricket stadium at Dharamsala. SP (Vigilance), North, Bimal Gupta said: “In the first case Anurag and Arun had purchased 32 marlas of land at Kalapul near Dharamsala by forging the documents. The land in question could not be sold before 20 years as it was allotted by the government.” A case has been registered under Sections 420, 188 and 120B, of the IPC and Section 13 (2) of the Prevention of Corruption Act. Gupta also confirmed that a case had been registered against the HPCA for illegally occupying the land belonging to the Sports Department. Other than Anurag, who is president of the association, none of the association members has been named in the case. Last month, the vigilance bureau had registered a case of cheating and misappropriation against the HPCA over the alleged wrong-doings in the allotment of land for constructing a residential complex. When contacted Anurag said: “It is political vendetta against me and my family and nothing else, the Congress Govt in the state has resorted to a witch-hunt.”
