BL-26 (Guan Yuan Shu) See picture. Location: 1.5″ lateral from the midline, level with the space inferior to the spinous process of L-5. If when working with an element or meridian does not seem to be producing the expected result it might be useful to include this point in the treatment protocol. This point opens the gate to the “Officials” and will also have an affect every other point in the body which has a gate type function. Strengthens the lower back; removes obstructions from the channel. Chronic or acute lower back pain. Pain in the lumbar area, contracted lumbar muscles; lower back pain and stiffness; sciatica; sacroiliac arthritis; paralysis of legs. Abdominal distention and pain, constipation; inflammation of the rectum; serious diarrhea, swelling, emptiness; hemorrhoids; chronic peritonitis or enteritis. Bladder problems: frequent or difficult urination; urinary incontinence; enuresis, cystitis. Morant- All female troubles with pains and spasms: “way of the blood of the uterus,” painful menses. Weakness and emptiness after the flu. ------------- BL-27 (Xiao Chang Shu) Location: Level w/1st sacral foramen, 1.5″ lateral from midline. Regulates the function of the small intestine; resolves dampness; clears heat; benefits urination. Energy stagnation in the small intestine; Small Intestine deficiency. Lower abdominal pain and distention; leukorrhea; constipation; stools difficult, or blocked; or diarrhea, pus and blood in stool, dysentery; (infectious dysentery); diarrhea with blood and heaviness of the rectum; hemorrhoids; colic, abdominal pain; painful spasms of the intestines; appendicitis; enteritis; peritonitis; borborygmus; irritable bowel syndrome; abdominal pain with heat sensation in the chest. Musculoskeletal pain; sacral pain and stiffness, lower back pain. Problems with urination: dysuria; or incontinence; insufficient urine; cloudy urine, burning on urination; urethritis; blood in urine. Swelling and fullness of the lower abdomen, acute pains. Painful swellings: swollen feet. Sciatica. Diabetes. Special point for liquid humors and yin in bladder or small intestine. ---------------- Bl-28 (Pang Guang Shu) Location: Level w/2nd sacral foramen, 1.5″ lateral from midline. Regulates the bladder; resolves dampness; clears heat; stops pain; opens the water passages in the lower burner. Painful urinary dysfunction; inflammation of the bladder (cystitis), frequent pressing need, incomplete urination with discomfort, dark urine, pain or spasms of the lower abdomen, or incontinence; inflammation of the urethra, urinary tract infection; prostatitis. Large intestine: constipation, or serious diarrhea; pain in the abdomen. Genital sores or swelling; inflammation of uterus (metritis); spermatorrhea; genital abscess. Lower back pain; sacral pain and stiffness; sciatica; cold back and lower extremities. Bone: pain, fever, aches (dengue fever). Sacroiliac arthritis, contracted lumbar muscles, lumbar pains, pains of thigh and posteromedial face of the knee. ------------- BL-29 (Zhong Lu Shu) Location: Level w/3rd sacral foramen, 1.5″ lateral from midline. Strengthens the back, dispels wind and cold. With Moxa to warm yang and dissipate cold. Pain on both sides of the spine from the neck to the sacrum; spinal pain and stiffness; sciatica, lower back pain; groin pain due to hernia. Spasms of the Intestines, kidneys, tonic convulsions, stiffness. Painful spasms of the Intestines, or inflammation; abdominal distention, pains at the side, Intestines with cold sensations; dysentery. Leukorrhea; pain in lower back during menstruation; impotence. Kidneys spasm, contraction; insufficient urine. Wasting thirst, absence of sweating, weakness of the legs; Renal Diabetes? Lateral lumbar muscles contracted, painful. Good for back pain in labor. ------------- BL-30 (Bai Huan Shu) Location: Level w/4th sacral foramen, 1.5″ lateral from midline. Nervousness, emotional agitation, fear, apprehension, fatigue, exhaustion, emptiness; or hallucinations, heat. Treats anal, genital and local sacral problems, but used mainly for anal problems. Tenesmus; rectal prolapse; constipation, (constipation from general emptiness); painful defecation or urination; cold sensation and pain in the lower back. Leukorrhea, irregular menses; vaginal or uterine inflammation; metritis; excessive uterine bleeding; spermatorrhea. Urinary incontinence due to paralysis; lower back sacral or coccygeal pain; sciatica; hernia. Sensitizes lumbar and pelvic regions. Anus, perineal muscles: pains, contracture, or flaccidity; also muscles of the sacrum. Displaced sacrum (tonify the soft hollow side; disperse the hard, contracted side).
