BLACK BEAR TEACHER WORKSHOP TO BE HELD OCT 4-6 AT PALMETTO ISLAND. Come join the Louisiana Department of Wildlife and Fisheries (LDWF) for a teacher workshop focused on our state mammal – the Louisiana black bear! Spend a weekend full of fun and learning at Palmetto Island State Park. Geared toward teachers of middle and high school students and informal educators, this workshop will cover topics ranging from the bears of the world to the current bear research that is happening right here with our own Louisiana bears! The weekend promises to be complete with presentations, demonstration of classroom lesson activities, and field work related to black bear habitat identification using GPS units. $25 registration fee. Participants will receive: GLE aligned lessons focused on the Louisiana Black Bear $50 stipend upon completion of the workshop GPS unit for your classroom upon completion of the workshop Meals Lodging at Palmetto Island State Park cabins Field work in black bear habitat Up to 12 CLUs Details: This event takes place on October 4-6, 2013 Palmetto Island State Park.
