BLACK BELT TRAINING SEMINAR On Saturday I had the great - TopicsExpress

BLACK BELT TRAINING SEMINAR On Saturday I had the great privilege to attend the Black Belts training seminar held by the South West Goju ryu Karate Association (SWGKA) twice per year. This time the seminar was held at Craig Senseis dojo (busseltonmartialarts.au). Training in a facility that is a dojo full time certainly makes for a good training atmosphere. The seminar was conducted by Shihan Steve Casserly from the Mandurah dojo, and Shihan Klaus Mueller from the Manjimup dojo. We all benefited from an astonishing wealth of karate and coaching experience, from the ancient to the contemporary. The classes covered optimal levels of cardiovascular warm up for karate training, kumite (sparring) drills, as well as developing a Plan, Do, Check & Adjust mindset not only in our own training but also for coaching juniors. We were also placed under some pressure when we had to demonstrate two katas for the group - a great experience. I felt very lucky indeed to be surrounded by a great group of karateka in whom the desire to continually improve their skills and practise was so evident. I heartily recommend that you come along on Saturday, April 5th, from 11am - 1pm, where you will have the chance to see some terrific karate demonstrations kindly provided member of the SWGKA. I look forward sharing all this with you in the future at Capel Goju ryu Karate do in the coming months and years! Warm regards, Justin
