BLACK BELTS? I recently saw some guys dressed in KARATE GI - TopicsExpress

BLACK BELTS? I recently saw some guys dressed in KARATE GI wearing BLACK BELTS around their waste, curious, I inquired as to how long had they been training. As it turned out—not very long at all. Shocking as it may seem, there are a lot of DOJOS out there that provide “CREAM PUFF” training and then dispense black belts like Halloween candy. Some instructors called that confidence builders. I call it FOOLISHNESS. I have known guys who attended those type of DOJOS and got their asses kicked on the streets. They had never been hit before, I mean really hit. They did not know how to react to pain. I have visited many DOJOS and left very disturbed by what I saw passing for martial arts training. One of the few good schools I visited was one ran by Frank Dux in North Hollywood, California. That is the real Frank Dux the character John Claude van Damme played in the movie BLOOD SPORT. Frank taught Ninjutsu. Most of the instructors that I met could not have handle the type of training that we endured. Vicente Cruz, one of the greatest martial artist in the world today set up a program in Panama that was so grueling that even US ARMY RANGERS and ARMY LERPS (LONG RANGE RECONNISANCE PATROLS and MARINE CORP FORCE RECON complained. Cruz even taught at the SCHOOL OF THE AMERICAS in Panama ran by the CIA. Our sessions began with meditation followed by intense physical exercise, then KUMITE—FIGHTING against 2 or 3 sometimes 4 individual attackers all at once. Then, after leaving a gallon or two of perspiration on the floor, on your way home you would be attacked by members of the DOJO coming at you with evil intentions. This was no “CUPCAKE” situation. There were times when you would just be walking mind your own business and, you’re in the shit. Real time situation. It kept you sharp. I’ve been hit so hard I saw every star in the elements. The best way to overcome fear, is to face it dead-on. My SENSEI RICKY JOHNS 9th DAN and the late BUTCH WORREL could hit so hard. you only had a quarter of a second to decide if you wanted to lay down. Of course I never did. These BLACK BELT DOJOS should be ran out of business.
