BLAME IT ON JITOKO’S LOVO PACK AND ANDIE’S FRUITCAKE Never - TopicsExpress

BLAME IT ON JITOKO’S LOVO PACK AND ANDIE’S FRUITCAKE Never have I gone to bed thinking of food like I did last night nor have I ever laughed at myself as much as I did today. It started this morning. No, it started last night. Well, actually it started Wednesday morning with Di Lewa’s many adjectives describing Jitoko’s lovo pack that got me very hungry. Later in the evening, Maria and I made secret plans concerning that delicious fruitcake Andie baked for Burua’s birthday. As I got ready for bed late last night my mind was seriously engrossed with the lovo pack and the fruitcake that made falling asleep very difficult. I kept seeing food trays laden with “palusami”, with pieces of pork fat hanging over the sides, floating like clouds above my head. After clearing my mind so sleep can overtake that scene, a couple of fruitcakes came tumbling out of that same cloud. Over and over again that same scene kept hovering over me like a helicopter hovering over a field of tall grass. I kept turning around and around to avoid being hit by the fruitcakes and the “lovo” packs till I heard my 7a.m alarm at 8:30 this morning. “It’s Thursday! One more day”, I mumbled as I stumbled towards the bathroom. Being late to work did not bother me at all. Di Lewa’s description of the “thick lolo” on the “palusami” in Jitoko’s “lovo” pack somehow sustained me as I went through my morning routine slowly. I chose to forgo my breakfast drink opting instead for a bottle of water. Everything went well at work until I got off work at 11a.m when that underworked engine in my stomach started aching for fuel. A picture of that “lovo” pack instantly appeared in my mind. “Tomorrow I will be eating my “palusami”, I kept repeating to myself as I leisurely drove home. With that thought still on my mind, I gulped down another bottle of water when I reached home. “I had better take a nap before I go to work”, I said to myself. Just before I fell off to sleep I made a mental note of all the things I needed to pack, making sure not to forget the kilo of grog in the freezer to exchange for the “lovo” pack. I shot out of the couch like an arrow from its sling at the first buzz of the alarm, quickly packed my bags then sat at my computer to wish all my fb family and friends a blessed weekend. I was elated! “It’s Friday. My lovo pack will be here tomorrow!” I sang excitely. “I AM HERE”, I yelled as I opened the door at 6 o’clock sharp. “WHAT?” someone yelled back from the office within, “ARE YOU WORKING TONIGHT? I WASN’T EXPECTING YOU” “YES I CERTAINLY AM. IT’S FRIDAY” “NO IT’S ONLY THURSDAY”, the voice from within said. “WHAAAAAAAT? IT’S NOT FRIDAY? There! I rest my case ☺ ☺☺☺☺☺☺
