BLESS OUR HIPPY HOME by THE ASSORTMENT. This LANSING, MI. band got a bit of regional airplay back in 1967 with this goofy track (and its terrific flipside, a cover of the Smokey Robinson penned FIRST I LOOK AT THE PURSE). The story goes that the bands songwriter wanted to record a cover of a KINKS track on the flipside of PURSE, but his bandmates insisted he write something original, as they did not want to have to pay royalties for two cover songs. One can only imagine their faces when he brought them this!
