BLIZZARD: Governors in states along the northeast coast of the United States declared a state of emergency on Monday as a winter storm, expected to drop up to three feet of snow in places, approached. High winds were expected and a blizzard watch was issued for some areas. On Monday morning, empty supermarket shelves were reported in many regions as people prepared for the storm.
