BLOGGIING 44...dedicated to those who drive the stretch of state road between the Ripon city limits and the Kwik Trip near the outlet mall; and all those who have or have had a connection to the businesses, factories, farms, fields, and homesteads along the way. This edition of BLOGGING 44 features the rail line which runs generally along 44 between Oshkosh and Ripon. The first carrier on this line was the Oshkosh & Mississippi River Railroad Company, in business between 1866 and 1893; it was followed by the Chicago, Milwaukee, and St. Paul Railway, usually called the Milwaukee Road. In the 1980s, the route was assumed by Wisconsin Southern Railroad. Thanks to historian Jim Backus for his help.
