BLOODLINES by hs Watnik > SWINGER’S PARTY (2010) Nothing makes a person feel more connected to the verities of time and space than selecting a winner at the races and like nuts upon a sundae in a stakes race- this fortunate occurrence came my way at Gulfstream West as Swinger’s Party came in to return a ten spot and chance for every duce placed upon her nose- I did not have much divine inspiration coming up with his bay/black/brown daughter of top sire of mares and fillies Medaglia D’ Oro- and indeed that was my handicapping angle plain and simple- “Medaglia D’Oro is a excellent sire of females”- to wit: Rachel Alexandra etc. It is a welcome deviation of regular reality when a “plan” such as mentioned in the previous paragraph come true- winner are not hanging from the apple tree in any great abundance- therefore a look at some of the bloodlines particulars concerning Swingers’ party can’t be too far off the mark- Sporting a bloodline of >Medaglia D’Oro x Franscat x Sormin Fever – the latter stallion is one of the many Storm Cat’s who litter the stallion ranks at stud farms across the world- a fast horse who placed in some of the best sprint races run in America- in addition Stormin Fever was (is) of the 9-F ff which according to my personal census is the leading broodmare band in terms of stakes winners of the last few seasons- as for the ff of Swingers Party it is 16-A a popular sting of broodmares – Prize Exhibit was in line to race in a BC event in what a “lean” crop of contenders stemming from the 16-A group- historically the family transposes to Monumental Plucky Liege via a full sister to Bull Dog and Sir Gallahad III if I have my propellers functioning- Plucky Liege a foal of 1912 is considered as one of the most important producers of the 20th century- she was bred in England by a Lord of the realm and after her racing days moved onward to France where Sir Galahad III was the first o her foals to be acclaimed- once in gear Pluck Liege was a true dynamo and was late in life when she foaled Bois Roussel- the latter horse the 4th of her sons to attain the rank of Chef-de-Race!! Conversely mightiest Secretariat was free in his 5 generations of any connection to Plucky Liege and Seattle Slew as well- Affirmed – our last triple crown champion his dam was inbred to the full brothers Bull Dog and Sir Gallahad III both sons of Teddy as is the 8th dam of Swingers Party- and that is Marguerite de Valois (1919)- she in turn bred Hostility, Man O War’s remarkable daughter and the family furnished further good tidings along the lines of Dr. Patches and Who’s For Dinner and chef de races and winner of the Met Mile splendid Fappiano- The WBH9GC factor concerning Swingers Party measures “28” a nifty number and as far as connections o family “1” a group I’ve always held in the highest esteem we find strings of El Prado (1-L) and Sword Dancer (1-O) & Bold Reasoning (1-K) and 1-x bluebloods Buckpasser and Francis S.- the dosage index is 3:00 and the dosage profile >7-6-7-2-0 in cahoots with a GSV number of 57.27- As I mentioned at the get-go of this dispatch Medaglia D’Oro has been a superb sire of females and that is how I came to Swinger’s Party- in horse racing any angle can come in at any time and for any price- but any angle may also never come in!! and the innocent punter may play blinkers on and lose 50 consecutive times!- a good reason why the “racing form” has remained in business for the last 140 years- many a fine racing handicapping guru has attempted to me to respect the “form” and that solid handicapping by the book will steer a handicapper the pain and sorrow of long losing streaks- - and in this spirit when I 1st began “pedigree handicapping:” as the soul of my approach to the races I lost every race I selected for almost 2 years- BELIEVE IT OR NOT!!!!--- Nowadays with nearly 50 years of handing over my dough to a suspicious looking clerk I still can without any provocation select 29 of 30 picks as losers!! It happens all the time yet without a shred of modesty I will say that anyone who wished to go over the posts of “selections: I have put up in the last few years- will attest that my record of finding long shots is unique.
