BLOT ON DOCTORS This is extremely disgraceful and is a slur on the entire medical profession, violating the oath of Hippocratus which they claim to have taken. It is well known by now that private hospitals have become dens of unethical, heinous behaviour, smacking of the worst forms of crude Shylockian avarice. To profit in such manner - the percentage or margin is immaterial once the article of faith is shattered - is to trade in blood. Some of the best known names, who have set up 7* hospitals and are seen often on page 3, cannot be excluded from this rogues gallery. They merely look at the RoI and seem to care two hoots for human health and welfare. How do we check this growing menace ? The least said about the Medical Council of India (MCI), the better it is. Its Chairman Dr Ketan Desai, was once an inmate of Tihar. The big-wigs are all well-connected, and some even canvassed for high profile candidates in the recent general elections. Well, the only way is to leave it to the Modi Sarkar who promised us ache din and taint-free administration, failing which leave it to God Almighty !!
