BMC Racing Cup Lenzerheide The BMC Racing Cup at Lenzerheide - TopicsExpress

BMC Racing Cup Lenzerheide The BMC Racing Cup at Lenzerheide was an okay race. In the week leading up to the race there were positives and negatives. Being involved with the design and building of the course was great, but suffering with a cold and the effects of World Marathon Championship training and travelling left Ralph feeling tired and not confident of a good result. When your body is recovering, a fast starting race is not what you want, but with a World-class field of riders that is inevitable. So, as the front of the race sped away, Ralph spent the first two laps settling into the race. The uphills were a struggle, but in the technical sections he could gain time. The natural course really suited Ralphs style of riding, and his new BMC Fourstoke full suspension bike felt amazing on the twisty, rooty trails and over the drops and jumps; it was a big advantage. Not riding with the front group was not a big problem because Ralph didnt have to push too hard on the climbs and could ride his own lines over the slippery roots and rocks with no one to hold him or his bike up! It was a day when “the body suffered more than the legs”, but Ralph still finished in eighth place. A strong performance, with all things considered, and better than expected. There is more work to be done on the course at Lenzerheide before it is ready for the World Cup next year, but for now Ralphs main goal is to be fully fit for the World Cups in Canada and the USA. Two weeks of hard training coming up! ” ©fromthepits.co.uk
