BMW E46 related. So yesterday I noticed when i went to work that the Temp gauge was reading high. Parked and turned off the car, came back 15-20mins later and still at the same temp. Pull out of the parking spot and as soon as i start moving foward the temp drops back to normal with in 5 seconds WTF??? Later on at night I tried testing it out and couldnt get it to go past half on the temp gauge. I thought well maybe its a bit cold tonight and it was just taking long. This morning I was in the process of replacing the thermostat. After taking some stuff out and hose I thought lets test it again, so put eveything back in place and burp the coolant system as I have discconected some hoses. Got the air out and again it wouldnt go past half on the gauge. So took the car out did a couple triple digit runs, some stop and go, even a drive thru for long idling. Guess what i got?? still not even tried to go past half way on the gauge. So what the hell? sensor just went out of wack? Tstat maybe got stuck and just out of no where unstuck?
