BOBBIE DAZZLER UPDATE Firstly thank you to everyone for supporting us and praying for Bobbie, for those who didnt see our original post last Thursday Bobbie was suspected to have heart failure and was treated with medication over the weekend as a last attempt to pick him up, whilst his breathing did improve over the weekend he was still very poorly. Whilst checking him over on Sunday evening we noticed a strange mucus coming out of his rear so we segregated him and watched and waited for him to go to the toilet, when he did, to our horror, we got our answer, Bobbies manure was loose and moving alive with worms. Here at HorseSense Wirral we run a strict worming and egg counting programme as recommended by our vets, including Bobs having been wormed a month ago with an ivermectin wormer, after speaking to the on call vet at length and our primary vet Elliot on Monday tests and counts were done resulting in the conclusion that Bobbie is ivermectin resistant, not commonly seen in the UK. Today we took Bobbie up to Leahurst Equine Practice where Elliot and his colleagues Kirsty and Luke decided to scope Bobs to check for any respiritory damage, which was all clear so he has been treated with a stronger specific dose of wormer and had his cushings medication increased to support his immune system and he is already dragging his dad across the field, so fingers crossed he is on the mend in his own little paddock with our new shelter so he can get out of the sun and keep cool. Huge thank you to all at Leahust, excellent service as always, thank you to Stuart Jones and Charlie Parsons for transporting him, thank you to our Trustee Margaret Allin for being there with Bobbie and I helping to hold him up during his scan as the sedative really knocked him out and thank you to our amazing team of vollies for preparing his paddock, medicating him, taking care of our Leasowe stables, well everything Rachael Louise Cardus, Hsw Mum, Shaun Pirie, Christine Redmond, Jayne Douglas Petra Rowe Louise Nicole Wikberg Aron Barrass and Amanda Gill, we couldnt do what we do without you all xxx
