BOCH DEVOTIONAL: “You are forgiven” One fundamental fact we have to establish is about why and how we are forgiven. The moment you entered Christ, you were forgiven forever. God’s gifts in Christ are unconditional, they are not dependent on anything you have done or do. You are not forgiven because you tell God you are sorry or “repented” like some people like calling it. That is cheapening God’s forgiveness. You ought to remember that by the time you were born, Christ had already died on the cross, which means that you were forgiven before you came into this world. If you consider our environment, forgiveness comes from the heart and it’s before someone says sorry. We even find some people who say sorry but because the victim thinks the offence was really big, holds onto this person without forgiving them. They can even outwardly say, I have forgiven you yet in actual sense they have not. Forgiveness is independent of your sorry. Many a times the comers want to appease their consciences by doing so. God’s stand will never change he has forgiven you and he cannot change his mind about it so just receive the forgiveness. That is why he tells you to approach the throne with confidence and receive mercy (Heb 4:16). And just to make it clear, God also took care of your conscience (Heb 9:13-14) so torment yourself no more. You are fully forgiven. Receive!!!! You are forgiven because Christ died for you and fully paid your debt. Confession: I am fully forgiven forever (FFF). Thank you Jesus for purchasing my forgiveness.
