BODEGA BLUES Rain soaked streets on Avenue A. I talk to the man behind the register. He slips me $25 dose of black tar candy. I pay him in lose change and throw in my Timex. I saunter back to the crib and wake you up. Baby, I scored. Lets cook it now and youll feel better. Half naked your long legs capture shadows. Groggy eyed you mumble that you need some sugar. Cooking up the spoon, I find a vein and give you a pop. Some folks would admonish our deviant thirst. What do they know? Theyve never been to Paradise. I kiss every inch of your shaking sublime splendor. We catch a cloud and hover over Manhattan. Then we drift beyond a blue curve to Mars. Angels open their wings and sing a sweet song. Theyre the ones that understand our love. We dream of dancing on Copacabana Beach. In an epiphany of pulse we dream downtown. ~ MMC ( Photo lower left by Jaime Banuet, lower right NASA )
