BOISE, ID - The Idaho State Board of Education has announced that Idaho students can apply for the states Opportunity Scholarship beginning today. This scholarship is renewable for up to four years and is awarded to high school seniors or undergraduate students with a grade point average of at least 3.0, students who demonstrate a financial need, and who attend an eligible higher education institution in Idaho. 1,500 students received an Opportunity Scholarship last year. From the ISBE: “The Opportunity Scholarship provides students with significant financial support to pursue a postsecondary degree or certificate,” said Joy LaRue, Scholarship Program Manager for the Idaho State Board of Education. “Now is the time for students to pursue scholarships and learn about financial aid resources as they plan for next year.” The deadline to apply for the Opportunity Scholarship is March 1, 2015. The State of Idaho, through the Office of the State Board of Education, also provides information for the following scholarships: • GEAR UP Idaho Scholarship - Deadline 2/15/15 • Governors Cup Scholarship - Deadline 2/15/15 • Tschudy Family Scholarship - Deadline 2/15/15 To view the eligibility criteria for all scholarships and to apply online, students can visit the Board’s website at boardofed.idaho.gov and click on Scholarships. Additional information on financial aid resources is also available on the website to assist students and parents.
