BOMB SCARE IN CHARLESTON About 10:15 Thursday night, a bomb-sniffing Czech German Shepherd dog began searching the Subway restaurant in Charleston in the wake of a bomb threat called in to employees there at 7:11 p.m. Several minutes later, the dogs handler emerged to report that no bomb or suspicious items were found during the search. The dog and its handler, from the Department of Homeland Security Task Force in DeSoto County, came in response to a request from local authorities after the bomb threat became known. Several businesses were evacuated and all entrances to the Charleston Court Square were blocked off with police tape and/or emergency vehicles for several hours Thursday night as the situation unfolded.
