BOMET COUNTY: Governor Rutto had called the MCAs to a meeting to Brevan Hotel in Bomet Town to discuss the budgetary standoff that has pited the him & the MCAs. Rutto had wanted Ksh 1.3B to be allocated to his office, but the MCAs declined to pass the budget citing that statutory budget according to COB for Bomet County is Ksh 265M. On seeing the embarassment, the governor lowered his demand to Ksh 700M & again the MCAs remained unmoved from their earlier stance. In the yesterdays 9 PM meeting, a MCA who was at the meeting but has requested to remain anonymous tells me that all started well but things took a nasty turn when the governor alleged that Rais Uhuru has frustrated him & that he is contemplating leaving the county for him to run. MCA Serbai from the Konoin Sub-County told him that it was long overdue. He told him to call it quits. Rutto resorted to fighting the MCA & the guards had to whisk him away although he too was fleeing. The MCAs who are behind Uhuru are planning to take action against Ruto.
