BONITA SPRINGS, Fla. - Animal lovers from around the world are watching the recovery of Hope via Facebook. The Sharpei puppy burned alive after being doused with kerosene is alert and responding to care. WINK News reporter Michael Francis was there Sunday as Hope was whisked from Bonita Springs to Tampa for her next round of treatment. An animal burn unit in Tampa is where hope will be treated by a team of veterinary trauma doctors and dermatologists. Hopes treatment will be hypobaric burn therapy just like any human burn victim. The Hardee Animal Rescue Team from Wauchula is Hopes team of angels. But, funding Hopes medical bills that could top $20,000. Since this story has gone global though Facebook, donations are coming in from Thailand, Germany, England, Australia and from across the United States. How long will this take, I dont know, Leigh Sockalosky, President of HART said. Theyll evaluate her and well update on Facebook to let everyone know how she is doing.
