BOOM comin atchya with numbers 80 through 71! 80: Ghostbusters (1984) [Ivan Reitman] This is a no-brainer. If you havent seen this movie there is something special missing in your life. 79: Hot Tub Time Machine (2010) [Steve Pink] Great white buffalo. 78: Dazed and Confused (1993) [Richard Linklater] A classic. A few things are wrong with this movie; low budget, plenty of a good acting with some bad. But overall this movie is just a fun shout out to a glorified past of parties and more parties. 77: Gangs of New York (2002) [Martin Scorsese] Scorseses first of many collaborations with Leonardo DiCaprio. Daniel Day-Lewis (Lincoln) creates a truly interesting and eccentric villian within Bill The Butcher. A bit long but totally worth it. Over the top interesting historical movie with a good revenge story at the heart of it. 76: Letters From Iwo Jima (2006) [Clint Eastwood] After Mr. Eastwood finished making Flags of our Fathers; he decided to revisit the same battle but from the other side. This is the much better of the two movies (you wont see Flags of our Fathers on this list). Its almost all spoken in Japanese and the story is just much more compelling. 75: Drive (2011) [Nicholas Winding Refn] A throwback movie to the 80s with its music and style but a lot more than that as well. This movie has a lot going on under the surface. I dont feel like writing a whole paper about it so Ill just recommend it. Its excellent. 74: Shaun of the Dead (2004) [Edgar Wright & Simon Pegg] Possibly the best spoof comedy-horror movie ever made. Overflowing with the always hilarious British style comedy. 73: Sunshine (2007) [Danny Boyle] One of my favorite space-movies ever made. Once again Danny Boyle delivers a truly unique film that sort of becomes a bit cliche near the end, but nowhere near enough to ruin the movie. All around interesting and entertaining. 72: Dumb & Dumber (1994) [Peter & Bobby Farrelly] Same recommendation as Ghostbusters. No-brainer (pun intended). If you havent seen it, see it. 71: Mystic River (2003) [Clint Eastwood] Quite a dark movie but dont let that deter you. This movie has some of the best performances of the last 10 years in it. Sean Penn, Marcia Gay Harden, Tim Robbins, Kevin Bacon, Laura Linney and Laurence Fishburne all kick ass. There is a nice murder mystery plot. An interesting take on a close-nit community dealing with a tragedy. Clint Eastwood really outdid himself with this movie.
