#BORNO Borno: Boko Haram killed five pupils, six primary school teachers The Borno State Government has confirmed the killing of five pupils in multiple attacks on public schools in Maiduguri, the state capital. Prof. Tijjani Abba, the Commissioner for Basic Education, disclosed this in a chat with newsmen on Thursday. Militants had on Monday stormed some primary and secondary schools in Maiduguri where students were writing the National Examinations Council, NECO exams. Abba said that the victims of the attacks also included six primary school teachers, adding that the government had adopted measures to prevent future occurrences of the attacks. “It is really sad that the hoodlums successfullyattacked the schools, killing innocent souls. “This heartless and unjustifiable killing will not be allowed to continue because it will have a negative impact on the education sector of the state,” Abba said. According to him, government had directed all the 27 Local Government Councils in the state to provide security for both students and teachers in schools. Abba further disclosed that the government had spent about N140 million to renovate about 50 primary schools burnt down by terrorists in both Northern and Central Senatorial zones of the state. He said that government had also initiated partnership with communities and other stakeholders toward safeguarding schools against such attacks.
