BOY BADLY HURT IN CRASH NEAR SCHOOL Police are appealing for witnesses after a 15-year-old boy was injured in a road accident in New Stevenston. The teenager was hit by a red Mitsubishi Colt on Carfin Street, near Station Road and the entrance to Taylor High School, shortly before 9am yesterday. He suffered a head injury and fractured wrist, and was taken to Glasgows Southern General Hospital where staff described his condition as stable. Police said the driver of the car was uninjured but distressed by the incident. Officers are appealing for anyone who witnessed the collision or who has any informationto get in touch by calling 101.
