#BP Oil Spill: Criminal Negligence, Thousands Sick & A Gulf Graveyard Left Behind - Abby Martin features a special episode dedicated to the continuing impacts of the 2010 BP oil spill, starting with the news that the oil company was found grossly negligent this week and may have to pay quadruple the amount of money in penalties to the government. BTS producer, Cody Snell, then goes down to the Gulf to investigate the case of Jorey Danos, a BP oil spill cleanup worker who has been sick for the last five years due to his exposure to a toxic chemical oil dispersant known as Corexit. Abby then speaks with Wilma Subra, an award winning toxicologist, about the science behind the dispersant and why the EPA approved spraying nearly 2 million gallons of the substance on the water. Abby then goes over the impact on the Gulf ecosystem and wildlife, highlighting the millions of fish, birds, and mammals that have died as a result of the spill. BTS wraps up the show with an interview with Clint Guidry, President of the Louisiana Shrimpers Association about the impact of the spill on the seafood industry and the continuing battle to receive claims from the company.
