BRACA invites you to come along on a Culture Wave this Friday, July 18th at Bay Ridges first Summer Stroll of the season. The Wave begins at 7pm at Cosentinos - 6927 Third Avenue. The cast of Peter Pan from The Ridge Creative Center will lead the procession along Third Avenue to four sites. Each site will have an activity or performance that will last about 15 - 20 minutes. Site #1 - Cosentinos - 6927 Third Avenue - MWA (Metropolitan Waterfront Alliance), in partnership with NYC Parks Department is coordinating programming and events at the new Bay Ridge Community Eco Dock at the 69th Street Pier. Stop by the MWA table for a calendar of upcoming events, and find out how you can get involved” “Meet local high school teachers for an oyster gardening demonstration.” Also, find out about our wonderful free boat tours this summer that leave from the 69th Street Pier and sail around NY Harbor. 7:00 PM Site #2 - Yellow Hook - 7003 Third Avenue - Clann Eirann Pipers - Will play Let Erin Remember, The Minstrel Boy, Scotland the Brave, Bluebells, The Rowan Tree, Sean South, Wrap the Green Flag, Kelly and the 42nd, The Caissons and The Marines Hymn. Approximately 7:20 PM Site #3 - King Falafel - 7408 - Third Avenue Come dabkeh, drink tea and have a falafel at the Arab dance section of the Strolls Culture Wave. Join dance teacher and cultural worker Nicole in an Egyptian dance circle, watch a performance to the song Ah Ya Dunya and join in (or lead!) a Levantine Dabkeh line dance. Bring your iphone with your favorite dabkeh or Egyptian song and well plug it in! Approximately 7:40 PM Sute #4 - Indian Passage - 7407 Third Avenue - Come and participate in Rangoli art, Garbaa folk dance and Dholak rhythms - a traditional folk dance and music from Gujarat, India with Aeilushi and Paulom Mistry. Approximately 8:00 PM
