BRAHMOTSAVAMS OF LORD SRI VENKATA KODANDARAMA SWAMY TEMPLE AT TIRUPATI BEGINS By TTD News On 28 Mar, 2014 At 01:12 PM The Navahnika(nine-day)brahmotsavams commenced in the famous shrine of Lord Sri Venkata Rama in Sri Kodanda Rama Swamy temple in Tirupati with Dhwajaroahana Mahotsavam on Friday. The temple administration of Tirumala Tirupati Devasthanams has made elaborate arrangements than never before by erecting pandals, floral decorations, electrical illumination arches with mythological themes to celebrate this mega religious fete in this unique ancient temple of Lord Sri Rama. The event started at around 8am with the chanting of vedic hymns by temple priests as per Vaikhana Agama and the holy flag with “Garuda Chitra Patham” has been hoisted on the temple pillar in Mesha Lagnam by 8.50am (Dhwajarohanam time is between 8am to 8.58am) in a celestial vigour. Hundreds of devotees converged to witness the fete. Addressing media persons Tirupati JEO Sri P Bhaskar said, “Being one of the ancient temples located in Tirupati, Sri Kodanda Rama Swamy temple occupies a unique place and it was built by Cholas in 10th century AD. The life size deities of Lord Sri Rama, Goddess Sita Devi and Sri Lakshmana in their adorable forms face towards West facing Holy Tirumala Hills have been blessing the devotees since centuries. This is why the Lord is also popular by name “Lord Venkata Rama”, he added. He urged the devotees to follow the traffic guidelines and participate in large numbers to make the religious event a huge success.
