BRANDING HIGHER ED Higher education branding is nonsense, according to an Australian economics faculty member. It might be handy for university administrators, but is not relevant to the reality of an institution. On a theoretical level he might be right. But at the end of the day, somebody has to attract tens of thousands of high school student applications, tens of millions of dollars in donations, hundreds of millions of research dollars and sell hundreds of thousands of football, basketball, concert and lecture tickets to keep the doors open.
