BRAVO to these outstanding students! The Area Two Junior GOLD CUP Music Festival was held March 8 in Bartlesville. The event is sponsored by the Oklahoma Federated Music Clubs and hosted by the Musical Research Society of Bartlesville. I am proud to announce that ALL of my students who were entered played outstanding, well-prepared performances of a required piece by an American composer, and a piece of their choosing. All are working toward Gold Cup trophies. All Scored SUPERIOR marks! Pianists scoring Superior marks: Natalie & Abbie Emmons, Catie Banks, Alex Robertson, Heidi Jones, Addison Welborn, Mallory, Macy & Madelyn Henderson, Kevin Choi, Nikki Sullivan, Sarah & Abbi McKinney, Zach Stewart, Jack Loveland, Ella Burns, Elle Armstrong, Katie Lesicka, Elizabeth Aldridge, Lindsey Crowder, Maegan Klusman. Students who scored S+ in the Primary through Upper Jr Divisions were invited to perform in the afternoon “play off event” to choose winners for the state competition. My students who competed were: Mackenzie Robertson, Kate Emmons, Kendall Welborn, Kellen Welch, Liesel Urban, Sophia Sim, Will Ehrhart, Hope Urban, Sophia Burns. Kellen Welch was the winner of the Lower Jr. Division. Sophia Sim won the Upper Primary Division. Liesel Urban was 2nd alternate, Lower Elementary. Will Ehrhart was 2nd alternate, Upper Primary. Hope Urban was 1st alternate and Sophia Burns was 2nd alternate, Lower Primary Division. Kellen Welch was 1st alternate, Upper Jr. Piano concerto. The Pick Style Guitar Division of the Festival was held in Owasso, March 1st. Izzy Brown, Cierra Russell, Macey Marrs, Natalie Thornton and Kiersten Evans won Superior ratings. Kiersten Evans won the Primary Division, Natalie Thornton won Elementary Division and Macey Marrs won Medium Class Division. Macey Marrs and Natalie Thornton won the Duet Division. All Piano and Guitar winners will play in the state competition April 26 at Southern Nazarene University, Bethany.
