BRAY PEOPLE SIGN PETITION TO WICKLOW COUNTY COUNCIL, DEMANDING 15% DECREASE IN THE LPT TO BE DECIDED IN EARLY SEPT 2014 Our stall yesterday was brisk with people delighted to sign our petition demanding a decrease of 15% in the LPT. Eddie Sheehy, the County Manager of Wicklow County Council will put this matter of Local Adjustment Factor, before our local councillors to decide upon in early September 2014. It is imperative that people email or write to Eddie Sheehy and our local councillors demanding that they vote in favour of a decrease of 15% in the LPT. This reduction will pay another household bill for the financially vulnerable. We will also be out on the main street of Bray next Saturday for anyone who wishes to sign the petition as well and I would like to thank those who thanked us for doing this petition. I have endured Universal Social Charge, Household Charge, LPT as well as a myriad of cuts and entitlements and I am appalled that our County Council or local councillors would even dream of increasing the LPT. I simply cannot afford any more taxes and I now appeal to you to decrease this unjust LPT as a first step towards seeking its entire removal. There is nothing fair about people like me trying to cope on low and fixed incomes that are already falling way short of what is required to run my home, to be issued with an increase in this most resented and unmanageable LPT/home tax. I am aware that your council budget is suffering as a result of deficits from central government but that is no justification whatsoever for further punishing the financially vulnerable in County Wicklow. I am also aware that the next budget will seek to cut another 2bn from public spending/services.
