BREAD FOR THE EATER. AN EXHORTATION TO TIMOTHYS. In 2TIM.2:4-6 Paul uses three illustrations to emphasize his exhortation to Timothy concerning ENDURANCE. FIRST he references a soldier. He tells Timothy that if a soldier is going to be successful in his mission he must not be distracted nor divided but focused and united for the cause. SECOND Paul references an athlete. An athlete must be mentally and physically disciplined and determined: not impulsive or a quitter. THIRD Paul references a farmer. He must know what he planted, when its ripe, how it tastes, and what its good for. In verse 7, Paul encourages Timothy to take some time and understand his analogies. He admonishes Timothy to meditate on them and allow the Lord to reveal their meanings to him. We are soldiers in the army of the Lord focused and united. We are athletes competing in the Eternal Games, disciplined and determined. We are farmers who have planted the Kingdom in the field of our heart. We enlist. We train. We sow. LOVE GOD. TOUCH PEOPLE. FINISH STRONG. Have a wonderful Friday in Jesus. ALL FOR HIS GLORY! P. Paul
