BREAKING: A new Bill was introduced in Singapore Parliament today, which proposes an island-wide regulation on the retail sale hours for take-away liquor and the consumption of liquor in public places. Once the Bill is passed as laws, the consumption of liquor in public places will not be allowed from 10.30pm to 7am every day. In line with this, the retail sale hours for take-away liquor will also end at 10.30pm throughout Singapore, the same time as the restriction on the consumption of liquor in public places. A public place refers to any place (whether open-air or enclosed) to which members have access, such as parks, void decks and pavements. It excludes residences. The proposed Bill seeks to encourage individuals and business owners to take responsibility for both consumption and liquor in public places and retail sale hours for take-away liquor. The Ministry of Home Affairs hopes that with the proposed Bill, it will help to curb excessive drinking and reduce the risks of public disorder and disamenities caused by public drunkenness. For more information on the proposed Bill, do stay tuned for the news report!
