BREAKING: Dr. Cyril Wech, a forensic pathologist hired by the Vonderitt Myers family to perform an independent autopsy on the teen’s body after he was shot by a St. Louis police officer has released his initial findings. In a press conference this afternoon, Dr. Wech confirmed that Myers was shot 8 times, including 6 devastating shots fired at his back that struck the teen in the leg. We know that Black folks are routinely targeted and profiled by law enforcement which can quickly turn violent or deadly. The federal government has a clear role to play in overturning the conditions that lead to these tragedies and setting a higher standard of policing across the country.
