BREAKING FLOOD UPDATE: Here is the latest release from the City: New numbers: Peak will be Monday a.m. The report has Saturday at 6 p.m. - 2000 cubic meters per second and Sunday 3 a.m. 3800 and Monday am from 5100 to 6000 c/m/s. Safety and critical infrastructure remain the focus of efforts by Duty Directors. Excellent progress in being made in these areas. There will be road closures. Bridges are subject to closures. Updates will be issued as they become available. Evacuation notices have been delivered. Medicine Hat Transit is assisting in moving people to the Evacuation Centre at the Medicine Hat College. Red Cross is also on site. If you have received an evacuation order, you must leave now. Prepare for power outages and loss of sanitary services. If you do not evacuate, Emergency Services may not be able to assist you. Gas will be turned off in homes and businesses in the evacuation area by 2 p.m. Saturday. Bylaw will continue to enforce the outdoor mandatory water restriction. Very important that people follow the law, there are penalties for people who do not obey this restriction. Three lift stations have been shut down. Redcliff RCMP has issued a boating ban effective immediately for the South Saskatchewan River. This ban includes all motorized and non-motorized watercraft including flotation devices. There is dangerous debris in the river. The RCMP also request that the public stay away from the river for their own safety and to make way for emergency response and other critical resources. Residents are urged to stay away from the evacuation zone and surrounding areas so emergency personnel will be able to access the area quickly and safely.
