BREAKING NEWS. BREAKING NEWS. BREAKING NEWS. General News of Saturday, 28 September 2013 Source: Abdul Karim Naatogmah/citifmonline Oquaye Jnr. defends Lawyer Okudjeto Mike Oquaye Jr Lawyer Mike Oquaye Junior has jumped to the defense of renowned Lawyer, Sam Okudjeto, who has come under severe criticism over his recent claim that the Supreme Court ruling on the election petition should have favoured the petitioners. Addressing a symposium organized by Policy Think Tank, Danquah Institute in Accra, Lawyer Sam Okudjeto in his analysis opined that the ruling was 5-4 in favour of the petitioners. His outburst has since drawn condemnations from a cross-section of the Ghanaian public with the ruling National Democratic Congress officially condemning Lawyer Okudjeto in a statement signed by Deputy General Secretary, Kofi Adams. But speaking on Citi Fm’s News Analysis programme, The Big Issue, Lawyer Mike Oquaye Junior said Lawyer Okudjeto’s critics got it all wrong. “What is the message that Sam Okudjeto gave to Ghanaians, and this is a scary thing; he, with his experience told us that after analyzing the whole Supreme Court judgement, he was disappointed not only in the verdict, but that he was disappointed in the Judges, and he went on to say that in this country law matters.” In a sharp rebuttal, a member of the NDC’S legal team, Abraham Amaliba, said Lawyer Sam Okudjeto was politically bias with his analysis. He also accused the Ghana Bar Association of keeping mute on Lawyer Okudjeto’s outburst. Mr. Amaliba said he expected the GBA to condemn Mr. Okudjeto same as it did to Lawyer Tsatsu Tsikata when the latter also accused one of the Supreme Court Justices, Annin Yeboah, of political bias shortly after the announcement of the verdict.
