BREAKING NEWS CHARLIE HEBDO TERRORISTS KILLED 09 JAN 2015: UPDATED 11:50: The two Charlie Hebdo gunmen have been killed in a firefight with French special forces, according to reports in France. The hostage taken by Said Kouachi, 34, and his brother, Cherif, 33, is believed to have been rescued alive. A few minutes later, several explosions were heard at a second hostage siege in eastern Paris where an accomplice was threatening to kill at least six captives if police stormed the Kouachi brothers. Several hostages are also believed to have survived that siege. Gunfire and explosions were heard at the print works where police had surrounded the brothers after they reportedly told police negotiators, “We are ready to die as martyrs”. Some reports said police had earlier scrambled phone signals in the area after the gunmen made contact with the fellow jihadist from inside the building. Officers were apparently hunting the associate who is thought to be behind the murder of a police officer yesterday and a new hostage crisis ongoing in Paris today. The third hostage-taker, named as Amedy Coulibay, 32, this afternoon took at least six captives at a kosher grocery. Two people are dead in that incident. Police said Coulibay was demanding that the Kouachi brothers be allowed to go free in return for his captives. Revelations that a call was made by the Kouachis suggests they may have instructed Coulibay to carry out todays hostage taking to leverage their escape. There were reports of another alert near the Eiffel Tower, with police seen training their guns down the stairs of a Metro station, but it was a false alarm. Local media reports that the brothers met Coulibay while in prison. EARLIER STORY: 07:30 am A major police operation began early this morning and was still underway at press time. Shots were fired in a car chase near the Charles de Gaulle Airport as elite armed police closed in. Reports say the suspects have taken at least one hostage in the building of a printing business on an industrial park in Dammartin-en-Goele about five miles from the airport. The Kouachi brothers, the suspects in Wednesdays killing of 12 people in the Charlie Hebdo massacre are almost certainly the hostage takers, French Interior Ministry spokesman Pierre Henri Brandet said. The two suspects subsequently spoke to police by phone and said they wanted to die as martyrs, French lawmaker Yves Albarello told a TV station. The shootout occurred at a roadblack on the RN2, France Info radio reported that no one was injured. French newspaper Le Monde reported two of the airports runways have been closed, several landings have been aborted and flights cancelled as police helicopters gather in the area. Michel Dutruge, the mayor of Dammartin-en-Goële, said all schools in the area were being guarded and the children kept inside, although arrangements were being made to allow them to leave soon. SECOND INCIDENT It has been reported that the gunman responsible for shooting the policewoman, Clarissa Jean-Philippe, in south Paris yesterday was involved in the same Jihadi network as Wednesdays Charlie Hebdo killers. And it is now feared the same gunman has wounded one and taken at least five others hostage in a new shooting in eastern Paris. It is the third shooting in three days to rock the city after it began with the massacre of 12 at a magazine office on Wednesday. The incident is unfolding at a kosher grocery in eastern Paris Port de Vincennes.
